I've collected quite a few DVD & VHS of concerts and Music video's. What I would like to do is burn them onto cd's (burning DVD's will come later) in a compilation format so I can create my own MTV using my pioneer 5 disc dvd changer DV-C503. I would like any suggestions concerning hardware and software and links to the best methods for compiling. Any problems with audio levels combining videos from differnt sources?

  2. What I do is capture & render videos to mpg fromat. Use TMPGenc to make them vcd files. If there are audio issues, I use VirtualDub to split the wav out & use Boost (I think it's on this site) to up the volume or a wav editor to make videos stereo & to also up the volume (also handy in removing noise & static.) You'll have to re-encode with TMPGenc after. Then burn to cd as files or vcd (depending on what you plan to do & what your DVD player is capable of.) For DVD, it's the same thing....capture to DVD compliant format, split wav if needed, re-encode, then use an authoring program to make DVD. My harware right now is a Dazzle USB device. I would suggest getting an AGP capture card for better quality if your PC has AGP slot. Just remember, the source footage won't get better just because you're capturing it.
    Hope that helps some.
