I have made audio compilations for years and am interested in doing same with my commercially made concert DVDs, but with full video and audio without any loss in quality. I have been doing research and understand that I copy to my hard drive and then export to a DVD burner and that I need 2 software packages- a dycrypter and an editing package. I must admit that its confusing and would appreciate any help in suggesting the right combination of software that would give me quality as well as the editing tools to make sure I can do a smooth transition from song t song. Thanks

For editing and final DVD try Mpeg Video Wizard DVD.
You have to rip DVD first as you already know than import to Wizard and edit. This package is for mpeg editing and it will not re encode files if DVD compliant, only transaction or modification you make.
You can put a few video songs from different DVD to one

thanks for the advice; a couple of questions: will MPEG Video Wizard DVD keep the original audio format eg. 5.1 or stereo? any idea how much recording time is available in a DVD-R? assuming the average song is 4 minutes, how many do you estimate I can record on a disk?

    regards

Video Wizard does not re encode compliant file only the modifications to it.
If your original sound is 5.1 it will stay that way. Mind you you cannot mix stereo and 5.1 in one title on DVD.
As for recording length it depends on your file bitrate (audio+video) and time, should be about 2 hours, but you can use bitrate calculator to figure your situation.
