Hi,
Did anybody tried to create two or more tracks with TMPGenc DVD Author 1.5.13.44 (August 28, 2003) trial version?
I copied two cartoon series from several VCD disks to one DVD-R and I added the first series to the first track and the second to the second track. Every track had 13 episodes which means 13-13 mpg files were added to each tracks.
When I played the disk I had no problem with the first track but I was not able to start the second track at all. When I chosed the second cartoon series (track #2) it always stopped working either in my standalone DVD player or WinDVD on my PC.
Can anybody help me what I did wrong?
Thank you for your help in advance.

The site's been down for most of the time since you posted. Give it a couple of days. Someone will see it.
I'd help if I used that program. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts. -
I would try to help, but don't have a clue what you were trying to do really.
I have put 3 mpeg2 files into Tmpgenc DVD author, edited them, done cuts, made chapters and menus, and set them up to play various ways from the menu's. It all worked good.
Sometimes I do them to play all as one movie. For a play I was working on, I set chapters in each file, then made the menu to show each act.
You could choose what Act you wanted to watch instead of watching the whole movie of the play. You could also jump ahead or back with chapter points I set.
Is that kinda what your trying to do? 2 Long files, each with chapters for cartoons, and then play either the first or second one? -
Hi overloaded_ide,
Thank you for the answer.
Now I try to write down the method step by step I did.
I have two serieses of cartoon on several VCD disks and I decided to put them in one DVD-R. The total size is about 4.2 GBytes.
- First I extracted the mpeg files from the CD disks and put them on the hard disk. (I got 13-13 mpeg files for both cartoon series.)
- Changed the 44.1 kHz audio to 48 kHz with TMPGenc Plus.
- Then I started TMPGenc DVD Author and created a new project.
- I added the 13 mpeg files to the project.
- On the left side of the screen I changed the track name and put the title of the first series.
- Then I created a second track and added the other 13 mpeg files to this track. I also renamed this track.
- Then I went to the next step to create menu. I chosed the Blue type of menu and the automatic menu in the menu option.
- Every mpeg file appeared for me as an individual chapter, so I just selected the picture which I want to see in the thumbnail and change the title of every chapter and also changed the type of the Font from 'Arial Bold' to 'Times New Roman' and also the size of the Font.
- I selected the first play to show the menu and go to the next track.
That's all. Then I generated the DVD files and burned the disk which is not working properly. The first track can be selected and played but the second track I could never play. This is happened on my desktop player and also in the Intervideo WinDVD player on my PC.
Can the problem be of the TMPGenc DVD Author or I did something wrong?
I tried this method without having menu I did not see any problem. I could play all of 26 chapters, but of course I would like to have the menu.
Please help me if you can!! -
A Couple of things, your first two steps seem to be redundant in TMPGenc DVD Author.
As a test a while back I copied direct from the VCD disks .dat files to a directory on the Hard disk. Renamed them. did some more.
Then I had a bunch of *.dat files. I added them into the same program you are using as titles, some with one file and some with multiple files since I used to create erstz chapters on vcds by splitting the video into shorter segments.
Authored & played from HD with power DVD for testing before burning. They were accepted and the audio was apparently converted to 48Khz as the authoring took much longer timewise. I considered that still better than the first two steps you did because I didn't need to interact with each file. I could start the process and go watch TV, keeping an eye on the computer screen in a handy mounted mirror.
It took me about an 1hour to 1.5 hours to author versus about 15 to 20 minutes normal time to author.
Maybe it is the menu format you chose? I think I used blue cloud 1... Hmmm... could be you chose automatic menu? I believe I select start with menu. I usually do that and then when playing go to the play all button to play. Works for me with PowerDVD, SOny 5 disk changer, APex 3 Disk & Single Disk players.
What else, I don't play with font type or size.....
Could be that you selected first play... I believe that is supposed to play the first title and then go to menu. Never tried it.
I also tried motion menus and they worked but slowed the authoring process somewhat. Also tried adding a short clip as background and that worked so I do not know why your problem.
Good Luck
