  1. I want to capture cable from my TV tuner, and back up my DVD from my s-video-in and audio-in in svcd format. I am not looking for state of the art clarity, I just want to equal vhs/s-vhs quality. I have tried intervideo's MSIPVS, and I have tried Powerdirector 1.1. The video is not as good as it should be, but I can live with it. However, the sound is really bugging me. They both produce bad sound. When the pitch should be flat, it has drops in pitch in the same manner as a police siren. During vocal pitches, there is a constant staticky clicking. It’s more of a back-ground static that masks over the overall sound and screws the clarity. This is best way I can describe it.... I know it is not the audio cable because I can rip the sound of in WAV and its fine. And it doesn’t have a problem when I’m watching it, just after I have recorded it and I play it back. Any ideas on how to fix it (do u need more spicific info) or what software will give me vhs quality SVCD's? (I do not want to manually separate the video and audio, re-format them and paste them back together, but if that’s the only way to get ok quality then please tell.)

    Plus,
I want to know what is a good program for recording music from the audio-in jack. I want it in CD player format. (I think this is WAV ) Mp3 would be a nice option in the software.

  2. If you would fill out your hardware profile, paying special attention to your sound card in this case, and also detail your source type and connections used, then I might be able to offer some help.

Not having any idea what type of hardware you have, and how it is connected, I have no clue other than to offer that something is not right.

  3. OK, here we go........
    *Athlon xp 2500+
*asus 87n8x deluxe mobo: includes nvidia soundstorm integreated APU, dolby digital 5.1 audio processor,
    *geforce4ti 4800
*1g ddr400 ram (might be running at 333mhz instead of 400)
*tuner card- msi tv@where: Silicon Tuner & Conexant
    CX23881/883 audio/video decoder complete details @ http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/vga/vga/pro_vga_detail.php?UID=342

Video in is through s-video input in the tv-tuner card, using standard s-video cable that came with tuner card.
Audio in is through the line in of the soundstorm apu port/mobo. Cord is rca (white and red plug) at end of vcr, and the appropriate plug for the computer end (think it is called 3.5 mini plug or what not), insulated, and is gold plated at both ends. The problem better not be form the cord, it cost $30 @ BestBuy.

    This good enough? 8)

  8. I am not familiar with the software you are using, but you need to isolate the problem. Try VirtualDub, and capture nothing but audio. See if that's Ok, this will eliminate your cables and hardware.

My suspicion would be that the sound file is being re-sampled or going thru too many conversions.
