From the PC to the living room

Ok here´s the deal.

I´m very new at this video thing and i´ve glanced the guides but couldn´t make much sense of them. So i´m asking you in order to know if it can be done.

I have a Seinfeld collection in avi and mpeg´s (mostly divx i think) that i want to burn into a DVD so i can watch it in the living room TV instead of my pc.

Is this possible? Is it worth the trouble? Is it very hard to acomplish? Is it similar to making a (S)VCD?
