  6. The first capture device I had was a DVC-80. It worked better in the box under a table leg for stabilization.

They all hide. Worried that the angry mob might turn against them

  10. Obviously some people have had an issue with Dazzle software/hardware.
I on the other hand have had really good luck with Dazzle Complete DVD Deluxe 2.5. I liked how similar is was to SpruceUp and DVD Maestro.
Dazzle Movie Star was not all that great and I never used a dazzle hardware product. I use a Pinnacle Studio AV/DV card (block) and Pinnacle Studio Deluxe Version 8 software. I capture with this card and software and then import it into Dazzle Complete DVD Deluxe 2.5 and make all the menu's, etc., and burn my DVD.

As a proud owner of Dazzle's Digital Video Creator II; one that i use every day as my personal tivo using the TWNH. Nothing has come along after 4 years of use that comes even remotely close to its quality. Yes i know Dazzle products are somewhat buggy; but most of those problems are software and not hardware related. and thanks to the good folks at www.vcdhelp.com and www.dvdrhelp.com, i've been able to solve any and all headaches.

I have had all Via based machines, and the DVC2 never worked quite right for me. Most of that was the drivers and MovieRATS software. It was over these problems that I contacted support. It was support that made me want them shut down. And I got my wish

  15. The CloneCD site says

New copyright law drives out CloneCD sheep

Anyone know what this is about?

I would have thought that if anyone came after them legally it would be for CloneDVD, but they're still offering that for sale.

their were better drivers people came up with or took from other products of theirs (such as the very nice apollo drivers). the MS 4.24 software wasnt bad and the beta 4.25 worked better for me. Their are also other apps people have made that worked great with the dvc2 and much better then MS

Tried them ALL before giving up and buying a DV converter.

Well, I really like DVD Complete. I think its a very easy program to use. The only gripe I had was being unable to move the thumbnails on menus and the audio had to be mp2. But the audio thing did not bother me much since I burn mostly recorded TV shows that don't have high quality sound anyway.

When I heard there were discounts on pinnacle products for dazzle owners I looked into it. I can get a discount on Studio. Well, I own that too! Not to mention I got it for cheeper than their "discount". BAH, guess I'm just getting screwed on this one.

I will stand with the couple of posters here
    [stands up]
Hello my handle is D_Knife and I use a Dazzle DVC II
    [end of confession]

Actually I have never had a problem with it - I stopped using Moviestar long ago and went with Bugsy - fantastic little piece of software and good hardware converter. One of the tricks is turn off preview mode!!!
Never had a single audio sync issue or any other problems after that

Although in the last week I bought myself a Sony MinDV cam with AV>> DV in/out and a firewire card so the DVC II is consigned back to it's box - pity I will miss it

    But I much used card
    Bye bye Dazzle

No, they want you to buy the new pinnacle box. They will give you a $25 trade in though You can beat their prices about anywhere else on the web, and still keep your DCS.

Pinnacle and Dazzle seem to have been very alike all along now.

I agree with Mr Swann. I also have the DVC II and it works great for satellite tv to dvd captures. I also use TWNH instead of it's native software. I have made some real nice DVD's with this hardware. ****1/2 stars

I also agree to t j swann and pummler!
I also own a DVCII (german version DVD Master) and also using TWNH, never using preview. The stream directly can be authored to DVD without a single frame error and good quality. Actually I compared it with Hauppauges PVR card which was inferior in image quality.

I guess the main problem with DVCII was that it is extremly picky with resepct to the main board, the chipsets and possibly other components installed in the same system. I have it running in on an Abit BE-6-II mainboard using an Intel BX-chipset with a Pentium III 600 Mhz. On my ASUS A7A266 Athlon-system the board prevented the system to properly start at all and asked about it Dazzle told me that DVCII cannot be used in Athlon-systems.

Anyway it runs well in the PIII-sytem I have without any problems.
