Apex AD-1500 won't play DVD-RW/+RW?

I've tried both Imation DVD-RW and Sony DVD+RW and neither will play on this thing but I've read it can from other owners. Is mine just a piece of junk or does it not like imation and sony?

My Shinsonic 100-A will only play -R or +R, it won't do -RW or +RW. It wouldn't be the only player unable to take RW media. I think newer Apex units can handle all media types though.

I have Memorex DVD+RW which I recently bought at Office Depot and my Apex 1500 wouldn't play them. But I found that they play perfectly fine if I burned them so that the menu displays first instead of playing the movie as soon as the DVD is inserted into the player. Try that.

My 1500 plays +R/RW with every brand I've tried so far. Philips, Fuji, Memorex, HP, Primedisc, Optodisc. Haven't tried Sony or Imation. The only problem is FF/REW don't seem to work, everything else does. I've tried one -R, it works.

Verbatim-RW work in my 1500. If it fails to load 1st time, eject and then try again. You might also use the hacked firmware from www.nerd-out.com to help. Good Luck!

You know something? The disc I have actually is a verbatim 1x. In any case that trick only works with my cdrw discs. Apparently burning stuff on them over and over again will do that.
