i have this ridiculous dvd that i'm ripping to svcd (it's an anime, fushigi yugi for anyone who knows it). typical of most anime dvds, it has been manually telecined (not just progressive with 2:3 pulldown rff flags) but made to ntsc (an ugly mix that avgs around 75% ntsc). anyways, the thing with the dvd is the source isn't that great - even in the dvd itself, there are some mpg artifacts and gross pixelization.

i figure this one is definitely going to need some anti-noise and softening filters in cce, but before that, i was just wondering if the deinterlacing is any good in tmpgenc.

here's my method:
smartripper -> dvd2avi -> tmpgenc (for ivtc) -> vfapi -> vdub (resize, add subs with vobsub) -> frameserve to cce.

when i ivtc in tmpgenc, i do the autoivtc with flicker priority, and then manually go through and check key points for any interlacing artifacts. however, because of the messed up nature of this dvd, there are MANY MANY interlaced frames, ie ivtcing can't get rid of them all. so i was wondering in the autoivtc feature, there's a thing for deinterlace. has anyone had any experience using it and if so, what is the best one to use and with what threshold?

thanks for any and all help guys.
