I have a divx file that I am trying to make a vcd compliant mpg from that is giving me some trouble. The original avi plays fine in VLC and is very out of sync when played through quicktime. I ran the file through the divx doctor like I normally would when making vcd's from divx, but the resulting mov file still plays out of sync in quicktime. I went ahead and tried running the original avi through ffmpegx with the vcd ntsc presets and the resulting mpeg was very out of sync. I am currently encoding the out of sync doctored .mov in the hopes that it may work, but I'm not really counting on it. I know it's important to set the frame rate and the sample rate on your vcd settings the same as the source file. The sample rate was no problem (44100), but the frame rate on my original file is odd. Something like 29.66, so I set it to the ntsc standard of 29.97. Has anyone encountered anything like this before or have any suggestions for me?
Thanks in advance.

If your source is already out of sync, then the encoded movie will always be out of sync. It must first play in sync within Quicktime player. Use QT Mutator for that, or copy/"paste scaled" the video onto the audio track.

Thanks, major. I fooled around with QT Mutator for the first time last night and couldn't really make heads or tails of it, but it looks like there is a step by step guide for synching audio + video on the QT Mutator link provided in your post that should walk me through it.
Thanks again.
