The new ep aired in UK BBC, FYI.

New guy is not too bad, much better than I expected. Not too unlike Tennant.
Redhead is cute, nice attitude, should be good companion.
New Tardis will take some getting used to.
    New intro theme sucks.
It jumped right into a spooky subplot! That will clearly be theme of the season.

I thought Martha was gorgious and hot, and nice teeth. I did not see her intro, so I don't know how she fell into the Roses spot, nor did I see Rose leave. When my analog shut down last year, I stopped seeing the series. I only began watching them when I cought it on BBC (satellite) back in early Jan/2010 and got me interested again because they were airing several back-to-back eps. One of them was "Blink" which I thought was a great ep.

I was not sure about the latest doctor however. But I did notice that they are trying hard to sell him off as the new and better version. The new series airs tomorrow, sat/17th. I'll DVR it and capture it as usual.

Have watched the first two, and like it. The new doctor is a good progression from David Tennent, although I do agree with vhelp about Martha Jones. I would have much preferred another season of her instead of Donna. The show has changed management, and the new head honcho is obviously making sure that this season stands apart from those that have been before. So far, so good.

If you want more Martha, do what I did -- get the audio books, novels and comics.
In fact, I wanted more David Tennant, period, so I've been grabbing up all the books, audio stories and comics lately. Some really good stuff in there, and some of the stories are better than the TV ones. David T. reads several of the audios himself.

I felt like 11th doc ep #2 was a crappy remake of the Eccleston ep #2, when he and Rose went to the year 5 billion on the platform watching Earth die. It just had that same type of story, but worse.

I'm starting think Moffat's writing sucks, but I do really want to be proven wrong. I really, really do, because I like this show.

Didn't she appear in a few episodes of Torchwood? I haven't watched that series yet but planned on getting to it eventually.

Yes, she had a few guest star appearances on Torchwood.

The Doctor (David T) was also in an episode of last season's Sarah Jane Adv, decent ep.

I've been busy all this week, between my usual programing projects, drwho work, my day work and life, and didn't get a chance to give my review of this latest doctor who series. Its exciting.

I give it 5 stars. I like it.. a lot. The new Dr is great and his companion is also. I'm looking forward to the next episode. I'm getting my from directv satellite.

Anyway, having it on dvr (and of course, i capture it) i must have watched it three times already.
This new director seems to know what he is doing, so lets see how far and where he takes us in these series.

Oh, by the way, in case no-one noticed.. he got a new screwdriver "light" color, its green. I guess they wanted it to match the inside color of the tardis. Personally, I think that was a bug-fix, you know.. the daleks light is blue, well, you get it.

  14. Matt Smith is turning out to be a very good Doctor. He has a quirkiness about him that reminds me of the second Doctor. For me, the first three episodes were a little lack-lustre (although episode one was also very funny). However, it really hits its stride in episode 4 with the return of the Weeping Angels. This is more what we expected from Moffat and more in line with the darker, more scary Doctor Who that he said he would do.

The BBC went and scored a massive own goal with episode 4 as they had a 'coming up next' banner appear at the episode's cliff-hanger. UK audiences are not used to this sort of thing on a drama first showing on the Beeb and it has caused thousands of complaints as it ruined the end of the episode. We can all hope that this level of complaint can be the beginning of the end of treating audiences with contempt but with this practice being so widespread on other digital/cable/satellite channels I won't hold my breath.

Unfortunately we get this type of sh*t on our screens all the time.

Standard practice for Australian networks is to

    1. Never, ever start a program at the advertised time (and depending on the preceding show, the start time can be up to 10 - 15 late)
    2. Always include a watermark for the duration of the show
    3. Include a large station ident on the return of the program following a commercial break
    4. Include a Now (in case you don't know what you are watching) and a Next during prime time programming.

Items 3 and 4 are usually at least as big as the one in the image shown in the previous post. And this is through most programming, and certain through all prime time programming, on all networks.

And pay TV is just as bad, if not worse, and costs actual money.

    And then they wonder why people download TV shows . . . . . . . . .

Finally watched the first couple episodes from this season. It's going to be tough watching with the redhead, she provides far too much of a distraction.

She's really tall -- I didn't notice it until the last couple of episodes, as she towered over the others. She's a real smart ass, too -- something the doctor needs, instead of a followed. Like Martha+Donna, but without the annoying halves.

The complaints are around 6 to 7 thousand at the moment; I know that this isn't earth shattering stuff, but maybe this level of outcry may halt, or at least hold back, this sort of thing that you're talking about happening in the UK. The trouble is that the BBC are putting it down to the Doctor Who fans and not the viewing public at large. However, they have issued an apology and promised that this wouldn't happen again. We'll see...

Hmmm... the only thing is that she's also coming across as a bit arrogant, as in "look how good I am!" and is constantly being told she's brilliant. Methinks that there is a sad ending in store for her.

The rip in the wall -- not knowing Daleks -- I think it has something to do with alternate universes.
Her going off 1 day before her wedding.

I'm not sure how long she'll be the companion, but she probably has something bad in store for her, yes.
Maybe not something that she doesn't get over, and come back another season, but still hard.

I really like this new series. I really do. But, unfortunately, my satellite provider decided to suspend me and cut me off because of a billing issue. They are up to their usual nonsense of tricks and games. I had it settled two months ago and was told not to worry and ignore the next invoice until the following (so that a balance would fall off) but that never happened and they want $250 when I'm only suppose to be paying $29 since march and bla bla bla. I came home to a blank screen. Screw it! I'm finished with tv. I sent them a letter explaining what I originally explained two months ago and left it at that. Its up to them to make their move-which I doubt, and so i've already disconnected the dish. I suppose that means all my shows I recorded to the dvr are either locked out or gone. Oh well, I had tons of stuff on their. What a waist.

The show was great for the first 3 episodes I saw, and I really wanted to see the 4th because "Blink" was one of my favorite episodes and I wanted to see this episodes, weeping angels. Oh well, you get screwed sooner or later with these people. Maybe i'll see you guys around another time.

PS: be sure to watch Graham Northon show right after, because Karen is one of the guests. Its actually a nice finishing program to watch after the Dr Who series. I noticed that in almost every episode, Graham always seems to get an "Dr Who" mention in there, every episode. Me things he's a fan.

Anyway, let me know how this episdoe goes, i'm sure it will be a smash! I envey you all, later guys.

Shame about the Satellite provider, vhelp; the two-part Weeping Angels story has been the best of the series so far.

The significance is built up through series four; so you need to stay with it to find out.

    No spoiler huh??

Well at least it does have some significance which I can look forward to.
I was confused since I've just finished watching episode 10 - "Forest of the Dead " and there were no clue of why she appeared (for 8 episodes)..

Not quite. There was no new series of Doctor Who in 2009 but there were five specials between series 4 and series 5:

The Next Doctor (UK tx: Christmas Day 2008)
Planet of the Dead (UK tx: Easter 2009) - I didn't like this as I hated the character of Lady Christina.
The Waters Of Mars (UK tx: November 2009) - excellent episode IMHO!
The End Of Time (Part One, UK tx: Christmas Day 2009)
The End Of Time (Part Two, UK tx: New Year's Day 2010).

If you jump straight from series 4 to series 5 you won't know why the Doctor has regenerated.

Still too distracted by the redhead. However I have noticed she has skinny chicken legs. Writing still seems to be pretty good, I like the villains you feel some compassion for like they did with the vampires in Venice.
