I have tried to burn several movies into 2 DVD-Rs and so far I have been very unfortunate. None of them play in my Pioneer standalone DVD player. I'm sure I'm doing something very wrong.
All I want to do is Decrypt the movie to my hard drive and burn it to 2 DVD-Rs.
I use Decrypter and Ifoedit 0.95. The whole operation appears to go fine but when I play it on my standalone dvd player, the movie doesn't play.
I noticed that when I decrypted the movie, the decrypter doesn't automatically selects all the necessary files to go in the DVD-R, because the VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.BUP, and VIDEO_TS.VOB were not in the VIDEO_TS folder. According to the guide, these files are needed for the movie to play.
Then, when I realized that, I decrypted the movie and manually selected all those files and still the movie would not play after doing all that overwhelming process.
And yes, after splitting the movie into the 2 folders I did the Get the VTS Sectors and Save it.
I don't know what else to do any more, perhaps, I'll buy DVDXCOPY and try to see if this would make it a little less painless.
Any help will be appreciated, Thank you.

What media are you using + or - some Pioneer players play DVD + R but most like -R especialy the newer models

read the guides at doom...abriviate below
1. dvd decrypt to hdd
2. split the main movie vobs (ifoedit, dvd to 2 dvd'rs)
3. COPY OTHER files (extras to second disc folder) also the video_ts files too, THE VIDEO_TS FILES ARE NEEDED in both discs. its the main menu
4. for both disc sets...region free, delete pops, get vts sectors...
5. burn as DATA with nero , obiously all files should be in a "video_ts" folder on the disc or it wont play
thats it... www.doom9.org has great guides about this
i also have a pioneer dv-343 and a dvr-104...this werks great 4 me
it takes 1.5 hours to backup an entire dvd-9 to 2 dvd-5's with ABSOLUTLEY NO LOSE in quality (seen or not) and i still have all the xtra junk

I'm using GQ DVD-R 4.7GB media from Frys
My Pioneer standalone player is the DV-434 -

Thanks for replying with some info.
Mmm, on your step 4, I did not delete the pops. But I did the Get VTS Sectors and Save. Very much I did everything that is required for the movie to play. Also, when I try to play on Ifoedit 0.95, it doesn't play or preview, but plays fine on PowerDVD. -
judgementdy, try using a different media.. I have tried the GQ from fry's and they don't work in my set top player too.. but when I use a pioneer dvd-r media everything works fine for me...
symptom with the GQ media, some times it plays it but after a minute or 2 it will start freezing and skipping and it will just stop.. sometimes you can hear the dvd spinning forever and nothing happens..
just my 2 cents, try another media -
Thanks freebee22,
Mmm, your suggestion could be the solution to my problem. I'll buy pioneer media. That's another trip to Frys. -

Sounds like you are doing things correctly. Maybe the problem here is the lack of an AUDIO_TS folder (even though there is nothing in it) along with a VIDEO_TS folder?
-
If you are going to change media...and you should, that sounds like your problem, use RitekG04 discs.

I just like to inform that I have learned to backup DVD movies.
In December of last year I had no idea of how to do it but thanks to all of you guys now I'm an expert. Well, still learning
I use:
DVDXCOPY XPRESS
INSTANTDVD 7
DVDShrink 3.0 (lately) -
That's good to hear, judgmentday.
Welcome to the DVD-Backupers Club. -
I agree with Northcat, Ritek G04's are the super bomb in DVD-R media! From my crazy past burning movies and different brands of media (I've been through 3 so far), I've found that 9/10 it was the media, and not the method used to rip/burn. But like other's have said, I'd use DVDShrink, it's what I use, it's the best you can get, try it out.
