  1. I want to preview the vob files before i burn them to dvd, but nothing will play them because i don't have the right codec. What codec do i need to play VOB files.

    install windvd or powerdvd ... they are mpeg files ..

    All I did to solve this was associate the .VOB file type to mediaplayer
    (ie - tell your computer which program to use to open VOB files, in my case mediaplayer.)

  6. Jarvizo - you still need to have a MPEG2 codec installed on your system and windows does not ship with one. If you install anysoftware DVD player they come with a MPEG2 codec.

    As odd as it sounds while WMP can be used to play DVDs, it still does not come with a MPEG2 codec.

    I was assuming since he was already ripping & burning DVD's that he had mpeg2 codecs already installed, but you know where "assuming" anything can get you!
