  1. I have some avi's that when I try to play them, only the audio plays. When I tried to use TMPGEnc to convert them to mpeg it said, "can not open or unsupported" for the video but will except the same file for the audio. So do I have some bad files or is there something I can do, some repair software or something??

I've never failed, I just found a lot of ways that don't work.

  2. This probably happens because you dont have the codec on your pc that the avi is encoded with. Sometimes you wont get anyting to play and sometimes just the audio.

    A couple of suggestions:-

    1) Try playing in media player whilst connected to the internet. It may be able to locate the correct codec automatically.

    2) If not it is probably a divx avi and you need the divx codecs. Just goto the tools sections on this site....the links are there.

    hope this helps.
