I record an NFL game in XP mode on my Panasonic E80H. Theoretically I should get 30 fps, is this correct?
When I play it back in the slowest slow-motion mode (frame by frame) while watching the seconds tick off on the play clock shown on the screen sometimes I count 25 frames for every second ticked off, soetimes 29.
I realize this is a tenous experiment, but shouldn't I get a constant 30 fps???

The problem is that Football is garbage and the recorders don't like it

Some frames may look identical to the previous frame. So when you click the next frame button, it may not look like anything changed.
Could that be what is messing with your count?
What you should do is load it into some program that shows you the total number of frames. That would be an easier way to do it. Then divide that number by the time.
Gspot will tell you the number of frames.
