  1. I have an ATI TV Wonder VE and have not been able to find a program that can capture at 720x480. Is it just physically impossible to capture at hi-res with a TV Wonder VE? I'm aware that I can capture at 680x240, but that tends to throw the A/V out of sync after encoding.

  2. I have a TV Wonder VE and I can easily use VirtualDub to record 720x480 video.

You can't capture anything x480 if you're in overlay mode. When in overlay, half the fields are being sent to the vidcard and the other half to the capturing program. You need to disable overlay by pressing 'O' and capturing blind.

  4. OK. Then my next question is: When I capture with virtualdub, the sound is roughly 70% noise and 30% of what I'm trying to capture. My ATI software works fine in that arena. Any idea what could be causing THAT?

  6. Ok. With Virtualdub I tried getting out of the overlay mode..........still can't capture at 720x480. Looked at my audio settings, Line in is turned all the way up and I still get 70% noise and 30% audio from the source. I don't have that problem with ATI MMC 7.9 & it's set the same exact way.

If you're capturing at 720x480 in Virtualdub with an ATI TV Wonder VE - HOW specifically are you doing it? Aside from capturing blind.

that's probably your problem. don't put it up so high. remember: keep your audio at unity gain.

  10. When I try to capture video from ATI TV Wonder VE card using VirtualDub, it pops out a capture error messaage window and saying:

"Error 418: capture device was not detected".

I am using a Pentium III 450MHz with Win98se. How to make the VirtualDub recognize the ATI TV Wonder Capture card ?

    Many Thanks,

    Jack

  11. ATI capture cards and VirtualDub tend not to play well with each other. Try using the capture mode in something like Ulead VideoStudio and see if that can get you to your desired resolution.

do a search for a VFW driver, and install it, then you should be able to capture. Capturing at 720x480 successfully and w/out any framedrops
is a hit and miss w/ all kinds of cpu setup and things. Your's may not be
able to handle the load, or may, or may, but cause you to many issues like
frame drops and/or audio sync issues etc etc. You'll just have to trial and
error it until you get what's acceptable to you.
