  1. Okay, it's out. But I haven't been able to find many reviews. Is it worth the extra $$$ over other capturing and writing software? I don't have a capture card, but I do have a fairly fast CPU (Athlon 2500) and a gig of memory...and a 160 gig drive.

I know there's a ton of cheaper programs out there. I want something that's fairly easy to learn and easy to edit out the junk I don't need. But I want quality encoders and possibly something else I can throw on my resume. I'll be going from mini-DVD to DVD and want as good a quality as I can get. I hear Premiere has real time capture and great tools.

    Any advice?

    Thanks!

    John

Premiere doesn't capture or write. It's a video editor.

well it can capture .. but yes -- its a editor formost and any capturing would be DV which is not a factor in what you capture with - or hardware specific ..

Premiere would look good on a resume. Avid would look good on a resume too.

That said I won't buy either. Maybe think about Vegas Video. Alot of people are starting to use it instead of the others. Personally I use EditStudio from puremotion. Easy to use, great results, cheaper than many others for what it does (can do). Now has an sdk to interface with third party 3D effects software. Free 30 day demo. Mpeg pluggin for encoding based on the MainConcept encoder. Does a wonderful job for me with DV files. New version says it will work with mpeg files too, but I haven't upgraded yet.
