  1. I will like to buy a machine but I would like to ask for your option. I will like for it to play on both DVD-/+ R & RW. I want the most reliable machine I can use without any problem showing up. Which brand names should I consider? Is Combo good idea to buy or go for DVD player along with my other VCR?

I would like to hear your input before I buy.

    Thanks!!

I have the Panasonic PV-D4743 DVD/VCR combo. It plays just about everything except SVCD.

I have tried VCD, MP3 and WMA on CD-R, CD-RW. I have also tested commercial DVD, burned DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and they all played great.

As for the VHS part, well, VHS is a very mature technology so they all perform just about the same now.

Originally, I wanted to buy a combo because I wanted to upgrade my very old worn-out VHS. My intention was to then convert all my VHS to DVD. Plus it saves space too.

Plus I like the remote of the Panasonic PV-D4743. It can fully control my Toshiba TV and it's responsive and quick.
