  1. I have a home movie (B.C. Canada vacation) that I put on dvd-r. I want to give my sister a copy but she has a plus r drive in her pc. Will the plus r drive (new Dell pc) read the files on the minus r so she can burn a copy for herself. If not does anyone have any ideas? (it would be kind of hard to email 3.75 gigs)

    Thanks for any help

Does your sister have a DVD ROM or a writer? I haven't seen any DVD ROMs that specific + or -, so I'd think they all read both (although maybe some older ones wouldn't read +R if it wasn't around when they were manufactured.

If she has a writer then I would guess that the answer is still yes. I had a +R writer for a while and it would read (but not write) +Rs.

  4. Thanks for the replies

the dvd burner is a dell dvd+r/w
I went to the dell site and looked up her Dimension 2400 Pentium and it doesn't give a brand name for the burner but i will try it out and see what happens.

  5. If she is not going to try to burn to a -r disk she should have no problem simply reading it. They should both read either format.

If you can read a data disk you can read a DVD-video disk! It's the physical media compatibility that is being questioned, not the file system.
