  1. Hi, I just bought a Kiss dp-450 and I was really satisfied when I tested it, but now I got the special edition dvd from spiderman and it wont work, this is the retail version, not some home burnt dvd. When I put it in the dvd palyer in my pc it worked, but first there was a window that asked me if I wanted to install some software for a better dvd experience?? I think this might be the problem, Does anyone now a solution?
BTW: Does anybody know if the hitches in divx3 movies can be solved? They work fine on my pc, but on dvd they tend to lock up every once in a while.

Which firmware do you have on your dp-450?

The latest is 2.7.0 and it has many bug fixes, including the Divx.

If you don't have the latest FW, you should try it first. If the problem persist after update (you should do a "full update") let us know.

    Hopefully this helps!

  3. Well, I got some bad news, I updated the firmware just the day before I tried to play the dvd, and I double checked it, so I'm sure I have the latest version,
-For the problem with the spiderman dvd: I'm getting another new release by the same company (Columbia tristar), the DVD will be xXx, so then we will now if the problem is still there with that dvd. Personnaly I still think it has something to do with the software that it tries to install, cause when I insert the dvd, I see that it skipps to track 16 or so, and the all I see is a black screen
-For the Divx problem, I did some tests and the problem only occures with divx 3 movies, and not with xvid( didn't even knew that this was supported) and divx4 (I havent testes divx 5 but I assume that this will be the same as 4). So right now, the only solution is to convert to one of these formats

  5. OK, After a lot of testing, I'm starting to suspect that there is a problem with the region codes (not sure), on the dvd's that don't work is marked region code 2, but now I ordered a dvd with a concert from a magazine and when it was delivered I noticed that there was marked region code 0, and guess what, it worked, so does anyone now how to hack the player so maybe that works, I have the latest firmware (2.7.0 PAL version) so I'm afraid the hacks on this site wont work

Well then I got good and bad news for you:
The good news is that its probably something in the firmware and this means that it will probebly be fixed in the future.
The bad news is that I've been waiting for over 2 weeks now and they still didn't reply to my emails.

  8. More good news, I just took a look at the site of kiss technlogy and gues what I found on the firmwarepage:
Important: New firmware for KiSS DP-450 and KiSS DP-500 available in a couple of days.
    This was displayed here http://www.kiss-technology.com/templates/side.asp?level=1&pid=328
So i guess its only a matter of time
