Ok my question here is this. I have a good deal of money to spend on this so its not the biggest issue in the world. I was pretty much fixing to buy the Plextor 8x burner and buy one of the Epson 900's...
Then I read about that mod and I have a perfectly good Epson 740 so I'm going to do that instead and save myself $200!!
Then A friend of mine owns a new sealed OEM NEC ND-1100A DVD+R/W burner that he says after you update the firmware can write + and - and that he got it from newegg and I can have it for $70... Good friend but not the brightest.. I did the research and I think this puppy only right + for what I can see.
So I am thinking about it anyways to save myself the $130 but then I see media for + burners averages a good .50 cents more than - media... So now I am not so sure again....
I really wanna get a high quality DVD burner that I won't have to worry a lot about and could use some advice from you guys...
I really like the idea of an 8x burner but the 12x's are supposed to be out in november and why not go cheap now and get a 12x then or is it worth it to just buy the 8x now?
I'd really like to hear some advice of some of you guys that know what you are talking about, as I have been reading these forums for 3 days not and definitely gained quite a bit of knowledge so far!
thanks, Josh

The price difference between good quality + or - media is not much . It may be a few cents either way . Dont be fooled by cheap media prices . Those discs are not manufactured as well as higher priced media . Its a good bet that a few of them will fail in a given batch . I have a Sony DRU-500 AX and am partial to +R media because overall +R disc manufacturers seem to have better quality standards . I have a dual format burner so I can buy whatever quality disc is on sale this week . I pay no more than 1.20 dollars U.S. per disc and they rarely fail . My recomendations on media are TDK , Ritek , and Maxell for -R and TDK , Memorex , and Verbatim for +R .
Keep it on the big cam ! -
*bump*
come on guys I could really use some more advice on which CD burner to get.. I wanna get a quality one that rights + and - CD media and won't do me wrong... I can afford to get the Plextor 708a thats 8x for the speed but I want to make sure I have excellent reliability here....
come on some of you guys out there that burn these things by the 100's whats your advice? -

yeah,i feel that personnaly, labeling cds or dvds,is stupid.
for all the bother ive ever seen, and anyway, who reall cares about some crappy label.the discs either spends its life in a case,or in a player.
dont know about you,but i hardly ever find myself looking at cd or dvd labels and swooning over them.
