  1. I have a new Optiplex GX270 that came with an NEC ND-1100A DVD+RW drive. It worked great from the beginning, but I'm afraid I may have screwed something up my loading and unloading a bunch of software that may have did something to the drivers or configuration. I cannot just point to the DVD+RW in windows explorer and create a subdirectory or drag files from the hard disk any longer to the DVD+RW.

Does any know if I can sort of "refresh" the DVD+RW so that it works like it did when I first got it?

Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

  2. Chances are DVD+RWs, like CD-RWs, need to be formated for that capability (drag and drop). Isn't this is the basis for DVD-RAM

You need some packet writing software on there. It probably came on the driver CD with the drive. Nero InCD or Roxio Drag To Disc (DirectCD) will do that, as will the stuff from VOB (now Pinnacle) whose name escapes me. Just look for your UDF packet writing software and re-install that.

  4. Hey acanthis!

You fixed my problem! Being a newbie to this, I didn't realize you had to format a DVD for drag-and-drop, but DirectCD was sitting on my hard drive and it works. I just assumed this type of thing was enabled automatically when I put a new DVD+R in the drive.

Thanks so much for the help!
