  1. Ok I catpure some DV tape with ulead visualstudio, then I saved it as an AVI. i try to open it with VirtualDub13c, Error "no Video". I try on 1.4.7 and I get.

"Couldn'tlocate decompressor for format 'dsvd' (unknown)
"VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatile codec to decompress video, DirectShow codec, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

What do I do? I am running Windows 2000. Thank you for your help.

  2. VirtualDub can't handle the DV format. It needs the file format to be VFW compatible (Video for Windows). So even though VisualStudio is saving it as an .avi, it's not a straight VFW .avi. It's a DV version of .avi.

I saw posts in here earlier about possible ways to get VirtualDub to "see" DV .avi files as VFW, and I'm searching to find them again... that's how I ran across your question.
