    Hi all,
another problem: I encoded 3 films from DVD to SVCD format (using 2 cd 80Minutes).
The first one played great, no stutters and freezes at all.
The other two had several freezes, with the later one being impossible to see because of them (I mean a scene freezing for more than one second and then continuing).
I always used ffmpegX 0.0.7d to do this starting from the .VOB obtained with 0Sex , and the preset for SVCD (PAL). The media (cds) was always the same, and the DVD-player is the same , Philips DVD-763SA.
Is there a simple fix to this problem or not? Or is it better to not encode them to SVCD and proceed with VCD that will not have those freezes (I hope...)?

Thanks in advance for your help

  2. If you're using Quicktime to decode, it is a known Quicktime bug to freeze sometimes on big mpeg-2 files. Try to disable "Decode with Quicktime", or to enable "Decode with mplayer".

I used "Decode with Quicktime" setting, but I played them with VLC and the three SVCD movies played well on my Mac. So I believe the problem is with the player, but I cannot explain why 1 movie played great.
Do you suggest me to try anyway with the Decode with mplayer setting?

    Thanks a lot major

  4. You could give a try to CVD and KSVCD formats. They require less bitrate and could actually work better for some players unable to handle high peak bitrates on SVCD.
