  1. Has anyone here checked out the info from Pinnacle? They have purchased most of the Dazzle product line and it seems like they are going to bury it. Now before everyone starts flaming me.......I don't care about the capture products but they are going to kill a very good DVD authoring program, DVD Complete. This was originally created by DVDcr8, I think or close to it. The only thing that I could find lacking in the program was AC3 support. It made very good DVD's for me with very nice motion menues and such. This program should be allowed to develop and the creators are checking their legal options since it was licensed to Dazzle. Pinnacle is not planning on support for any Dazzle product but offering upgrades to thier own branded equipment and software. Any other ideas from people out there?

  2. I have no experience with DVD Complete, so I will not comment on that.

However, I have ample experience with both Dazzle and Pinnacle hardware. Being offered the opportunity to "upgrade" from Dazzle products to Pinnacle products is like being offered the opportunity to upgrade from samonella poisoning to bubonic plague, IMHO.

The 'upgrades' are only available until the end of September. What happens to those people who buy Dazzle stuff after that? And I don't mean from outlet stores and liquidators. I mean from regular retailers who may not be aware of the change of ownership. Will Pinnacle send word to the retailers along with stickers informing everyone of the change and lack of support? Will they recall the Dazzle product that will no longer have support from day one? Will they honor the license agreement and warranty enclosed in the packages? If not, are the purchasers free to copy and distrubute any enclosed software? Hell no. All Pinnacle did was purchase a customer list.

And heaven forbid if someone didn't get the email because of all of the spam the last couple of weeks.

  4. WHAT I FEEL REALLY BAD ABOUT IT NONE OF THE MAJOR COMPUTER NEWS SOURCES ARE CARYING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. Nothing on Cnet, Zdnet or PCmag. They all gave DVD complete great reviews. I hope the original creator of this software can come up with some legal clout. We should all support them. If you did not use it check out the links. It's a good product being squashed in it's prime. I am using UleasD now because is supports AC3 but it does not have motion menues in the basic program. I will move to Nero when the support motion menues. I like AC3 because I do not have to chance my DVD player settings.

Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

I think it's great that Dazzle will be off the market. Pinnacle Studio 8 has been a super product for me that works as a great capture device with the Canopus ADVC 100. And the editing fuction is clean and straight forward.
