Disk Error Message - Compatibility

i am having problem with "disk error" message when trying to play dvd-r disks in my stand alone players (apex, pyle). i burned them with my sony dru-u10a flashed to a 500A 2.0, using Nero 5.5, with Verbatim dvd-r disks.
the burned disk work fine in my toshiba drive, but not in the others....

using the same media, a 500A and dvdxcopy a buddy burned a copy for me and it works in all the players...

he even burned a dvd+r and it too works in all the players...

so i'm thinking i have the setting wrong in Nero...

went to the nero help page...tried different modes ISO/UDF and forced compat. with xbox...with the result that the disk now worked in the xbox but still not in the apex or the pyle units...

anyway, since i'm using the same (essentially) equipment other than the Nero, i wonder if i'm just not checking an appropriate box or what...

any ideas ?

i now have a good collection of coasters...

update

i have now burned a single layer dvd with dvd decrypter and it works on all the players...i used the iso mode of the dvd decrypter, decrypted and then wrote right out of dvd decrypter...

now i wonder if anyone can tell me why i am having problems when using nero...

because as i understand things i have to decrypt in the file mode, shrink and then burn on 2 layer dvd's..

update 2 (5 coasters and counting)

now i burned a dvd in udf format with nero, both with and without forced xbox compatibility, both work in the Apex, but in the pyle mobile unit it brings up a folder list like its reading mp3. when i click on th video folder and then on the file, the movie starts...

all this wouldn't bother me if the my buddy hadn't burned copies for me with dvdxcopy that are 100% compatible...

still waiting for help

Try the following settings in Nero;

1)DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO)
2)No Multisession
3)ISO settings ISO level 1,ISO 9660 (Joliet is disabled)
All ISO restrictions Disabled(Allow path depths etc OFF)

4)UDF Settings are UDF 1.02

Let us know if they work.

I tried various settings, incliding the one you suggested, but anytime i use anything but straight UDF, it won't run in the apex machine....

I did download a trial copy of CopytoDVD and disks burned with that program work on all machines....but, I would like to get Nero working...

I must still be doing something wrong in the settings...because even under straight UDF the Pyle player will display the files the way it shows mp3's, although when i then click on the files they will play as video...

very strange, specially in light of the fact that if i use the other burning program it picks it up and starts playing normaly...

What authoring program are you using? Do you include a blank AUDIO_TS folder as well as a VIDEO_TS folder? Are you sure the settings are the same as the ones I described? Especially the ISO (#3) ones?

I have the same when using nero to burn. It works in my pioneer standalone and my friends sony, but not in my Samsung or other friends Limit DVD player.

I use copytodvd now and eveything it produces plays on all the above players, but for some reason it will only burn at 1 speed, even on certified 2 speed disks.

ok, i tried it again but i still get the same result, i even switched to dvd+r disks...same result...

still, copytodvd works fine...it just bugs me that nero won't ...

at least i can get it to work

my next project will be to figure out how to split longer movies up into two disk so as not to loose picture quality..

Oddly enough, all the advice about Nero to burn in Udf/iso are NO good for me. The best is to use the wizard, and just drag files from your video ts folder, thats it. If i do as so many others have suggested, I get mixed results. With the wizard, it just works much better. Try that before you give up, (also when I used force compatibility, the disk volume label no longer was viewable when I put it in my computer dvd rom drive, but it now only worked on my standalone)

So the moral of the story, forget manual udf/iso and force compatibility, just use the wizard, its worked for me all this time.
