  1. Problem: I've created DVD's that play fine in my DVD ROM drives, but are choppy when played in my Pioneer DV-434.

    Now for the details...

I've been doing VCD's from DVD's for sometime and finally broke down and bought a DVD burner (a Cendyne which is really a Pioneer DV105).

My usual process to make VCD's was to rip with Smartripper, extract audio and create the project with DVD2AVI, then encode with TMPGEnc. I usually use Ulead's Movie Factory to burn the VCD's. I've used this method for awhile and all the discs have played perfectly on the Pioneer DV-434.

For lack of any better ideas, I used the same process to make a DVD MPG file by changing the template in TMPGEnc. I used Ulead MF to burn the DVD.

When I play the DVD in my DVD-ROM drives (on either of my 2 computers), they play great. When I put the disc into the Pioneer unit, it's choppy. Ugh! I tried 2 different movies, and 2 different media (DVD-RW and DVD-R) with the same results. From what I've read, this unit should play anything you throw at it (btw, it plays standard DVDs with no problems and a DVD-R I purchased as well so as far as I know, it's not defective).

Any and all help GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance

  2. you need one of the freeware dvdshrink or dvd backup programs. this shoukd also be a lot quicker! or go back to VCD (4 movies per disc?)
