1) Where can I get Microsoft Audio Codec? I tried to google it but could not find it.
2) How can I turn automatic updates off? Whever I go online, the update thing comes on automatically and the only thing I can do is pause it.
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

To turn off Automatic Update in WinXP:
Go to the Start Menu, right-click on My Computer, choose Properties, Automatic Updates Tab, uncheck "Keep my computer up to date..."
You really should keep your windows updated...remember the RPC worm from last week?Open WIDE for Chunky!!! -
Yeah I do...but the problem is that I dont want it to download every update that microsoft comes up with. Thanks and also, you have the nastiest avatar I have ever seen.

Yeah, it is kinda nasty isn't it
I don't have mine setup this way, but there is an option to notify you of the updates before downloading & again before installing if you leave "keep my computer up to date..." checked. Not sure if you can pick & choose the updates you want with this option though. At the very least you could use this as a way of notifying you that there are new updates out there. That way you wouldn't have to remember to check the website on a regular basis. Worth a try...
As far as the audio codec you asked about, I'm assuming you mean Windows Media Audio Codec? The latest is Windows Media Audio 9, and can be found at the Microsoft website. Start here...

Hope this helps.Open WIDE for Chunky!!! -
Also, if you are playing downloaded movies that require different codecs, Divx player is a good piece of free software that contains most of the codecs you will need to view any downloaded video.
As for auto updates in XP, I would keep it checked. Although I still got the worm even with it running.Oh well, all is well now thanks to symantecs website.
