  1. Hello,

I've been trying to convert downloaded DivX/avi movies to VCD/mpeg format with TMPGEnc using the standard VCD settings and always choosing the Mpeg file format (Ntsc film etc.) according to the source file in order to avoid framerate problems.
Encoded files play fine on my pc but I always face the following problems when playing the burned (Nero, 4x) VCDs on my DVD player (which is VCD/SVCD compatible).

Problem1: picture is jerky and "jumps" constantly every few seconds throughout the whole VCD, audio seems fine

Problem2: picture freezes now and then and a couple of seconds are skipped before VCD plays on, audio plays normal.

I've already wasted lots of CD-Rs, trying different settings both in the burning and conversion process but nothing seems to help, so it would be really great if someone couled help me with this problem....

I have the same problem as you do with some AVI files. Try using VCD EASY after you encode with TMPGE. I use TMPGE to encode the AVI FILES then use VCD EASY to burn to VCD. VCD EASY is now a shareware program that you have to pay for. Their free version has limitations. I was lucky to keep their old versions that still work for me.

I used Nero tonight to burn a cue file and then made a copy of it on vhs tape. The vhs tape was blocky and crappy. I realized I used the cue file I burned on Nero and not the one I did with VCD EASY. I redid the vhs tape using the VCD EASY one and it was fine with no blocky pixels.
