using an rf converter for my dvd player.... ???

Hi all,

Okay, my tv only has one jack (rf jack) for cable in. So right now I have my dvdplayer hooked up through my vcr (which has the yellow/red/white jacks) and then when I want to watch a vcd I just turn the vcr to aux and hit play.. which works fine..

However, I've been told that I should be buying an rf converter to hook it up to my tv instead. I thought that the vcr was acting as the same sort of thing...

Will I see a difference in quality?

From what I know in most cases running the DVD player through a VCR will activate the macrovision. If your player has macrovision diabled then I would keep it as it is. I'm not sure if the VCR would reduce the quality much. I have mine hooked up using an RF converter and the quality is about as good as using a composite video jack.

if u have some money laying around or u r getting a bonus soon, you should buy a new tv from wal-mart.

they have s-video stero tv's for under 100 here.

If you can't notice Macrovision (as ViperXT correctly stated this is the case when viewing through a VCR) there's no need to buy an RF modulator.
Sensibly priced RF modulators will give picture quality noticeably worse than a decent VCR can deliver with it's built-in modulator.
