  1. Pinnacle Card Vs Winfast2000XP How much better?

    Greetings to all here...

I own the Winfast since 6 months, and i bought yesterday the Pinnacle Studio de luxe 8, the AV/DV one (PS8) and i want to know how many improve can i get in comparison with the Winfast2000xp(WF).

    Some questions:

    - In the PS8 when i try capture in analogue mode(a VHS) the only seeting i can choice its "Full DV quality" ;, not as the WF where u can choice vcd, svcd and dvd presets and as you know still tweak the kbps, video quality etc etc. So my question its why this happend in a more expensive card like the PS8?. In PS8 how can i capture directly in vcd, svcd or dvd preset

    - Capturing in DV/AVI results in very huge files, and takes more time to
re-encode in the PS8 itself or a TMPGE 3rd party, after this make the dvd; in the WF the files are already encoded at the end of capture. As you see i waste more time to take a VHS to DVD via PS8 than the WF. The question is, the quality of PS8 worth the time i spend, or the WF do almost or the same quality in less time/steps?

No mention the $50 for WF and the $270 for the PS8.

    - Whats the card i need to stay with?
    - Some ideas for my scenario problems?

Thx in advance and im apologize for my limited english (still learning it)

  2. Maybe you can return your Studio 8 DV Card or exchange it for Pinnacle Moviebox USB. That will capture Mpeg2 DVD compliant files although it still works better to capture at full quality and rencode with TMPGEnc Plus. You can also just let Studio 8 do the whole job. I have owned a Leadtek TV2000XP Deluxe card for some time now and it's quality doesn't compare favorably with Pinnacle capture cards. .......... harrymj3

  4. The Moviebox USB works well wih usb1, I have tried it with P4 1.5g and Athlon 1.3g. Of course it will work better with usb2. You can find a good "high speed usb2" card for 15 or 20 usd on pricewatch.com so it's not a major expense and it's plug and play instalation. I currently use a P4 2.53g w/usb2 with this capture device. It is a hardware mpeg2 encoder. In my humble opinion, the best way to go. ........ harrymj3
