  1. I have problems playing MPEGs that VirtualDub reports as "Interleaved" in MediaPlayer v6.4.09.1124 under Windows 2000 SP3. The thing is I didn't have this problem on a fresh Win2k install, so I wonder what it might be (don't remember when the problem arose).

    The problem is this:

The MPEG gets a playtime only a fraction of the real total time. E.g: in virtualdub: 19:33 minutes, in MP: 1:28. The speed is normal, but the MPEG ends after only 1:28. BUT if I use the seek bar, I can wind to say, 10:00, and play like 1 minute after that point. Pretty annoying.

So, can I fix this problem? Can I replace the MPEG decoding routine of MediaPlayer? Is this routine in some .DLL?

I don't want to upgrade to this 'new shiny' MediaPlayer that is shipped with WinXP (you know, the one with shiny rounded corners, playlist and a lot of other bloated features). v8.0 or whatever it is.

I'll be grateful for any tips.

    Regards,
    Frode Nilsen, Norway.

  3. Funny... I reinstalled Win2K a couple of weeks ago, and got confirmed that a fresh install plays these interleaved MPEGs just fine. ¨

BUT NOW - two weeks later, it suddenly isn't working anymore
I'm suspecting either Nimo Codec pack or the installation of Adobe Premiere to be the cause... Have you installed any of these programs, RCNitro?

  4. Premiere, but I had the problem before I installed it.

And every time I installed the Nimo pack on my old XP box, it royally screwed everything up, so I don't think it ever got installed on this one.
