Takes one second and your movie is ready to burn.

  3. As far as I know, .bup files are simply backups .ifos. I don't believe they have to be present in order to play a movie, but you could always just make a copy of your .ifo, then rename it to .bup

Try it and report back. It depends on the player
and it would be good to have some idea of which ones.

They are what vandakeg says.....BackUPs of the IFO files.

They exist because IFO's are so important to the logical structure of a DVD however they take up a miniscule amount of physical space on the disc....so little that a nasty scratch could make your IFO unreadable, and thus your DVD unplayable.....so your DVD player tries to read the IFO, it it fails it tries to read the BUP...and if that fails then the disc fails and you are stuck with a pretty coaster.

In theory you could leave the BUP's off the disc....some players might be pedantic about it and check for their presence though....a good excuse to try an experiment methinks.

Yes, it's just a backup of VTS_01_0.IFO. Just use the "COPY" command to create a new one from the .IFO.
