I am very new at this, and appreciate any suggestions you may give. I am capturing video off VHS-C tapes (some going back to 1986), playing on a VCR through composite cables. My capture card is a Pinnacle DC10Plus, my capture, editing and buring program is ArcSoft Showtime DVD. I want to get the best DVD, considering the limitations of my initial media.

The frame size options include 360x240, 360x288, 384x288, 400x300 and 640x480. The FSP (frames per second) settings include 15, 20, 24, 25, and 30. I've been using 640x480 and fps of 25. I've increased my sharpness and brightness settings alittle also. The DVDs I've burned have been decent, no major problems, not perfect but I don't expect that.

Are these optimal settings considering the initial media and my system? Do they need to be this high? I've tested so many different combinations (thank God for RW!) that my eyes are getting crossed.

BTW, I also tried Pinnacle Studio 8 to capture, edit and bun, which came with the capture card. It produced some nice coasters after hours of rendering. I was able to burn the Studio projects with Nero, but the final DVDs appeared comparable with those from the ArcSoft product.

Thanks for your help!
