    hi

I am kind of new to this and totally confused.

I captured some old VHS tapes to mpeg2 and now want to convert them to DivX.

They quality is not bad, but not good either and all are 4:3 format.

I intend to store them on an external drive and display on a 42inch LCD

I have looked at using DivX Plus converter and other tools but am not sure about the resolution and bit rate to use to try and maintain some the current quality

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks -

Tons of free tools use Xvid....just use Xvid.
Also if they are mpeg files just cut a small section and experiment with those until you get something that looks good and something that your device will accept/play.
    The easiest is probably WinFF.
