  3. DVD Fab (very fast):
    Create videomanager (navigation files)
    Correct DVD sectors

    IFO Edit:
    Create IFO
    Get VTS sectors

Both do pretty much the same , I recommend DVD Fab

  4. @ sircooks, as Haku said ..the.... .bup files are backups of the .ifo files of their respective vob set. They are there in case of damage due to scratches, etc. Standalones detect the structure of the DVD and if that .bup file isn't there...then it's not a fully complaint DVD and may not play. If you can't rip that .bup, your best bet is to just recreate an entirely new set of files. IFOedit should create a new set of fully compliant files.

bup's are just backup's of ifo's. Just copy the corrisponding ifo to another folder, change the extension from .ifo to .bup, and copy it back.

Ex. You have VTS_01.ifo but not VTS_01.bup.
Copy VTS_01.ifo to another folder, change the extension to VTS_01.bup, and copy it back to the original folder.

Yea, they are, but are you sure there is no code within the files that specify one is a .BUP file and one is a .IFO file?

Even though they are identical..there may be something internally that specifies one is the backup. I also believe that .BUP stands for 'BACKUP.' At least that would make sense. Even though it's a backup....internally, the .BUP file may indicate it is exactly that...the reserve/backup file. So changing the extension might be a problem. Have you changed the extension of an .IFO to a .BUP before and tested it? It seems like that would work..but if there is anything that specifices backup from original internally..then there may be a problem. If you aren't 100% certain then IFOedit is the best option.

  10. If he has the VTS_01_0.IFO file , DVD Fab can create all the missing navigation files in one second.

When this VTS_01_0.IFO files is missing then you need to recreate all of them with IFO edit, by going through all the VOBS (takes 10-15 min)

..... lol... I was thinking like once every century...especially with as heavy as a scrutinize things...but hey....if I live another 100 years, i'll have to have a quick fix...ya know? Yea, i'm sure the technology will be ancient as the DODO bird by then...but hey...at least I'll have a quick fix for my ancient DVD's. Oh, but then amnesia at that age...crap..I better write this down and keep it in my wallet.

Seriously though..when the forum search feature is fixed and another forum memeber has the same issue...they'll see the post and find various ways to rectify the issue....the quickest being Leebo's method. Good lil' trick.

    Lesson for today, grasshopper:

Impressions based on Internet communications not to be trusted.

Actually, I've been mistaken for being a member of, shall we say, the "angular joint persuasion ", once or twice in my life.

Thats fine. Just don't leave me alone with your teenage daughter.

How did it not work for you? Did you get a playback error on your player? And if so, how do you know that it was because of the .BUP? I do not think the player will even use the .BUP unless it is unable to get the information it needs from the .ifo, so I kinda doubt its the .bup that is your problem.

As far as I can tell, there is no difference between the two files except the file ext. If you rename .BUP to IFO and open it in IFOEdit they are the same, so doing the reverse shouls work fine too. I have done this many times with no problems. I think Leebo is right.

I have made DVDs without BUPs and they work.
If the player firmware is lazy, it won't look unless it
    needs it.

hummm...maybe it works in some instances, maybe not in others. Some players as mentioned, will play the disk without that file..others won't. Could be your player too.

IF it were the .BUP file...then just because the files are the same "size" and report the same info...maybe something within the file specifies backup and original between the two. That's my guess....either way....glad to see it worked out for you with DVDFAB.

As I said, I've done it before.

Changed an ifo into a bup, that is.
Haven't developed any creepy feelings for 3 year olds though.

tompika, you are very blessed. Though at this point in my life I'd prefer the porno babe.

  26. If you have any file comparision software that can compare binary (like Arasix Merge) compare the .BUF and the .IFO file, they are identical.
So, All you have to do is copy the .IFO and then rename it to .BUF, it'll work. I've done it many times

Even mo' betta! (Whats the little dot down in the bottom left corner though?).

So you have the whole thing. I think I had cut it down because it surpassed the size limit for avitars on this site.

I anxiously await your next edit - possibly a chorus line of spideys?
