Hi everyone, here's what I did and am trying to do so see if you can give advice.
I had a backup of the movie Signs that originally was done with DVDXCOPY but I screwed it up since it was the first backup I ever made. What I am trying to do to fix this is take just the movie from the two disc backup and make a one disc backup of just the movie.
I have gotten this far. I ripped both discs to my HDD and then used DVD2ONE to get just the movie from each disc. Now, I am stuck because I can't figure out how to join these two movies into one so I can make an image file for burning.
Any suggestions on how to join this split movie would be much appreciated. I'm sooo close I think.![]()

Ok i dont use DVD2one because basically i dont like the quality of the outputted movie.
But this is how you might be able to do it.
Copy all the vob files to you hard drive (from both disks) re-name the movie vob files to carry on from the first disk. I.E.
(First Disk)
VTS_01_01.vob
VTS_01_02.vob
(second disk)
VTS_01_01.vob
VTS_01_02.vob
(what u need to do)
VTS_01_01.vob
VTS_01_02.vob
VTS_01_03.vob
VTS_01_04.vob
Then run them vob files through DVD2one. Not sure if dvd2one will be compatible way of doing this but give it ago.
If this dont work you will need to use DVD2Avi with CCE to re-encode the movie into one m2v file and one AC3 file, then re-author the DVD.
Good luck

Actually, it seems I've answered my own Q now.
If anyone wants to know for their reference, after extracting just the movie from each disc with DVD2ONE, I opened each with DVDSHRINK 3.0 and then just copied and pasted the two movies together and then reprossesed them so that I could make one image file for burning to DVD.
Hope this is good information for anyone who tries to do something like this in the future! :P -

Here is the step by step process I used to join the two-disc movies into one movie.
First you will need the following tools: DVDDecryptor or Smartripper(I used smart ripper to do it this time around), DVD2ONE, DVDShrink 3.0 beta, and Nero or whatever burning software you choose to use.
Next take the first of the two discs and rip the entire disc to your HDD.
Then, do the same with the second of the two discs but put it somplace else on the HDD.
Now, open DVD2ONE and select either of the two locations you saved the movies to and then create a Video_TS folder to put the processed movie into. Make sure in DVD2ONE that you choose movie only when doing the files from both discs.
Now, open up DVDShrink 3.0 and select open files. Browse for where the files are for the first half of the movie. Select Open Files and it should bring up the first half of the movie. Now, for the next step you should go directly to where the files are for the second half of the movie and double click one of the DVD navigation files and DVDshrink should then open up another window with the second half of the movie. Now, right click on the second half and select copy. Go to the other window which is also open and has the first half of the movie and right click under the title and select paste. Now both halves are back-to-back. Select backup and the location where you want the new files to go to. Then, all you have to do now is create an image of the files you just created with Shrink and then burn that image onto a DVD.
Hope this helps Moviegeek but if you need more clarity to what I said PM me. -
pyrate83, why do you need to use DVD2One?
You don't even have to rip the two discs.
If you have two drives you might not even have to rip the discs at all.
Read this thread for detailed yet simple instructions (written by dvdshrink himself).

Yeah DD, you're right. My way was probably more elaborate than necessary but it got the job done and I am happy with the results. :P

Why go to all the trouble if you can get the exact same results in half (or less) the time? :P
It should even make you happier.
