Ok, I posted last night but didn't get the help I needed. I will go again now. I used dvd decryptor to rip the files to my HDD. I wanted to use DVD2one to compress the files so I can burn them with Nero. However, the trial version only does 30 min. of videoNow I try DVDshrink and it TELLS me to choose an IFO file, but the file that is an IFO file doesn't have the IFO extension on it and shrink tells me it cannot locate the specified file or something like that. In the video_ts folder I also have 5 or 6 VOB files along with the one IFO file. What do I do....??? I need to compress this video in order to burn it but am out of options if shrink won't open the files for me.
Please Help...I'm getting frustrated with this!![]()

so you didn't rip all files, and it's not finding the ifo files it needs?
I think you're going to have to use Ifo Edit or something to regenerate a full set of ifo files before you turn DVD Shrink loose on it...- housepig

Well housepig, what decryptor ripped was everything from the movie. It's like 5GB of files. Now, there is a file in the folder that is an IFO file however it doesn't have the ifo extension on it. All the other files are VOB files.
Does this info help analyze my prob? -
okay, two questions -
1) how do you know that the file that doesn't have the ifo extension is an ifo file?
2) when I say "all files" I mean everything off the disc - did you rip all files, or just the main movie files?- housepig

Well as far as I know I got all of the files off the disc. As for how I know the file is an ifo file I can just click once on it and it tells me the file type, etc. -
Get Linux. It doesn't deliberatly hide important
information like file extensions. :P
Actually... Go fix windows to show EVERYTHING
and then rip your DVD again WITHOUT the "get just main movie"
setting.
You have a VTS_01_1.IFO but you need a
VIDEO_TS.IFO -

Use Decrypter, select mode>file then select all the files of the DVD.
I personally use Instant Copy 7, everyone says it's a piece of crap but it works fine for me and if you can add GB, MB together you'll get a good file size since IC7 doesn't report the correct size.
Don't go with the "automatic" compression, compression below 85% you will see noticable artifacts, I usually make the movie at least 90% and you can get rid of extra audio and subtitles.
When you compress it, it will come out in 4-5 files with the extention ".pdi", you'll need to download pdi2iso or the other converter to create the ISO file to burn the DVD. I also use Daemon Tools to check the ISO file. DTools is a free software you can download from doom9.net and it creates a virtual DVD drive on your PC that will allow you to play your DVD (ISO file) in PowerDVD or WinDVD just like it's already on disc. Once you go through the DVD and make sure it's all ok, use Decrypter to burn it. Set mode>ISO>write and burn it.
This process works well for me, I burn everything at 4x and they all have played fine for me and I took one to Best Buy and tried every DVD player I could before they asked me to stop.
