  1. trying to get divx avi files with vbr mp3 audio onto dvd (TMPGEnc > dvdlab)...tried grabbing the audio to a .wav file with vdub and GoldWave, but sometimes (50%ish) the .wav file is a different length to the video by a few seconds...tried stretching it, inserting silence and offsetting but cannot get in sync...

is there anything else i can try? or am i missing something alarmingly obvious...ideally is there another mpeg encoder that can handle vbr audio, so if it plays right in your media player it will just convert it without all this preparation?

any freeware or reasonably cheap encoder that can handle vbr audio, please tell me about it people as i can feel another headache coming on...thanks...

I open the avi in Virtualdub and select direct stream copy for the video and full processing for the audio and then save it as a new avi. It doesn't take long to process and after that I can successfully use the new avi with TMPGEnc. I have not noticed any sync problems that were not in the origional.

It sounds like you may have some bad frames. Vdub-MP3 will handle VBR audio and is available in the Tools section. Here's a guide for removing bad frames using Vdub-MP3.
