I'm aiming to produce a training package with director, and to distribute it on DVD. Target use is mainly PC's so a DVD-ROM isn't such a bad fallback plan, but would ideally like to produce them as DVD-Videos so that they'll play in set-tops as well. I've Done some looking and found a few references to 'DVDit! for Director', eg:
" a MacromediaŽ DirectorŽ Xtra that runs on both Windows
and Macintosh versions. Using DVDit! for Director, any Director user can
create interactive applications that can be seamlessly converted into
DVD-Video content for playback on set-top DVD-Video players or DVD-enabled PCs. "
...But I can't find any reference to this on the DVDit! website. Is this Xtra available or not? If so, where can I find it? If not, is there another one that will do the job?
Hope this is the right place for this post.
Any advice welcome, thanks in advance.
Sam

I haven't seen any real cross fertilization except in the autorun interfaces that come up with THE AUTORUN INTERACTUAL PLAYER which sports a flash front end...
check this..they never implemented it in DVDit instead they (SONIC) put it in something arcane called
"Daikin EDK (Enhanced DVD Kit)"
www.DaikinDVD.com
also check this

I have found this on a mac site (although some research let me see that it is for both windows and mac)
http://www.macobserver.com/news/99/may/990528/dvdit.html
Also from another site: http://www.oto-online.com/jul99/products.html
Sonic Solutions has introduced significant enhancements to its line of DVD Creator production systems, plus new models that lower the entry price for DVD authoring. These introductions include the debut of the world's first workstation for DVD-Audio production, which Sonic is delivering to support production of titles for new universal DVD-Video/DVD-Audio players.
In addition Sonic has also enhanced its DVD Creator software with the announcement of Version 1.6, which adds simultaneous monitoring of source and MPEG-encoded video, MPEG-2 software transcoding of AVI and QuickTime video, Fibre Channel networking support and the new AutoDVD facility automation system designed to automate the creation of DVD-Video and DVD-ROM titles. AutoDVD allows users to control multiple encoders, multiplexers, DVD-R and DLT drives remotely from any Web browser, such as Netscape Navigator. Using AutoDVD's integrated HTTP server, users open an AutoDVD web page, select a DVD authoring template, enter in their source tape information and press go.
The company has also announced that it will integrate DTS (Digital Theater Systems) Digital Surround encoding into its SonicStudio HD and DVD Creator systems. DTS Digital Surround is an optional audio format for both the DVD-Video and
DVD-Audio formats and is also compatible with CD-Audio technology for multi-channel playback from standard CD players connected to DTS decoders. Under this arrangement, Sonic Solutions will offer DTS encoding as an option on the new Sonic HDSP processor, included in all SonicStudio HD and DVD Creator systems.
Originally launched with the release of Jurassic Park, DTS Digital Surround delivers six channels (5.1) of master-quality audio. In the encoding process, the DTS algorithm encrypts the six channels of digital audio information, providing a new data stream that can be authored to disc. The input to the HDSP processor can be external AES-EBU digital audio,
analogue audio or a SonicStudio HD edit decision list, allowing users to optimise their multi-channel mixes in the SonicStudio HD DAW prior to encoding into DTS. The compressed data from the HDSP processor is routed on a single AES-EBU channel, clocked synchronously to source audio inputs.
Further news from Sonic Solutions is that its DVDit! publishing software now supports Panasonic's LF-D101 DVD-RAM drive. DVDit! has also been bundled with Matrox DigiSuite DTV to offer a complete video production and DVD authoring system in a single Windows NT workstation. And DVDit! for Director, a new Macromedia Director Xtra that runs on both Windows and Macintosh versions, now enables any Director user to create interactive applications that may be seamlessly converted into DVD-Video content for playback on set-top DVD-Video players or DVD-enabled PCs.
I think they just didn't add it to their website yet -
None of that has been implemented in DVDit..which is what the poster asked..
and
The CREATOR PLATFORM is for MAC ONLY
the rest of what you posted concerns technology for DVD AUDIO AUTHORING that debuts in 1999 but was taken off the market and is still incipient (in the over $10,000.00 us range)
both of those links are over 4 years old!
