  1. I have a video, the filesize is 200MB with mpg-1 format (VCD).
Now I want reduce it file size to < 150MB.

I already tried few softwares -- VirtualDub, Ulead video studio 6.0 and TMPGEnc. Those software make video filesize big than 200MB.

Is there any software can help to reduce video filesize ?

I had few VCD movies which got from Hong Kong, Each CD have four movies, each movie over one hour long. I don't know how they can make those VCD ?

  2. Assuming you want it to remain mpeg-1, the only way is to reduce the bitrate.

With mpegs, the only things that affect filesize are bitrate and playing time. Use a bitrate calculator to find out what bitrate you need to achieve the required filesize, then re-encode with TmpGenc.

VCD spec allows approx 10Mb per minute of movie and they are stored in a different mode to normal data CD's, so you can get 80mins of VCD on an 80min CD.

  3. VCD mpegs have a fixed bitrate and resolution. You can make an xvcd with a non-standard bitrate, but it may not work. Why do you need to cut it to 150MB? 4 200MB mpegs should fit onto a 700MB CD when authored as VCD

VCD's aren't data disks and you can fit just over 800MB onto a 700MB data CD.
