  1. I have an MPG-2 file that consists of an M2V(3,971,000KB) and AC3(434,000KB). Total thats 4430MBs thats within the 4438MB limit of a DVDR. I know about overburning but my question is if (and how ) can I convert the ac3 file to mp2, will that make the media file smaller?

I'm trying to avoid messing with the M2V file.

  2. AC3-->mp2, you can do it with BeSweet. You can control file size by controlling bitrates of mp2. I don't know if authoring program will take it.

  3. I prefer AC3Tool but it only converts to wav or mp3.Most ac3 files are 384kbps so converting to 256 or 320kbps mp2 would save some space.

  4. Well... you can also down sample the .ac3 file in BeSweet 384 to 224 or 192. An .mp2 audio file is going to be about the same size as its .ac3 counterpart. Why convert to a format that only some players recognize? Honestly I use Vegas Video to convert .mp2's to .ac3 files so I imagine it would do the reverse. If you have Vegas video...but BeSweet will do the same.
