I have been using Dupez printable DVD-R's for sometime now and they work great. I had been using the 1x blanks and been burning at 2x in my A05 Pioneer with a hacked firmware to allow it to burn everything at 2x... and they work great.. play in all DVD players I tried including PS2 and XBOX.
I wanted to start using 4x blanks since I have a 4x burner but since I been using the 4x Dupez I'm getting sporatic lockups on the video playback... if I burn at or 1x or 2x they play fine. I also have a Sony +/- 4x burner and also a Pioneer A06 and I get the same results in all 3 of my burners.... lockups at 4x but fine at 1 or 2x.
I have also tried a few DVDPro and Ritek 4x discs as well and get the same result. Is 4x burning just not where it needs to be? I can't see having a problem with all 3 of my burners and at the same time 3 different brands of media.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like it's your media. If they work at 1-2x but not at 4x that's pretty much the definition of a media problem. Both the A05 and A06 can burn at 4x. I have a A05 and burn everything at 4x (Princo 4x DVD-R from allmediaoutlet.com burnt with DVD Decrypter).
You might want to try a different program thou as another control. -
I use multiple burning programs.
I like Princo's but I don't think they make 4x printable Princo's. You have no issues with movie playback when burning at 4x ever?
