Is it possible to send command line arguments through to LAME when using TMPGEnc Plus to encode an XSVCD?

I want to create an XSVCD with LAME mp3 sound using the --alt-preset switches but can't find where you can enter the necessary command line switches.

Is this possible using TMPGEnc Plus v2.520.54.163?

  2. You can't use MP3 on S/VCDs.

If you really wanted to, then encode your audio separately as MP3 and then multiplex it with the video.

It will undoubtedly not work on your stand-alone device however.

I'm encoding to XSVCD rather than SVCD. I have done a quick test with my DVD player and yes, it can play XSVCD discs with a VBR MP3 audio track. My DVD player is one that supports playing VBR MP3 CDs and XSVCDs, so it's not that much of a stretch to ask it to play both together at the same time.

If I create the MP3 I want manually, how do I then tell TMPGEnc not to do any further encoding of the audio input? The options for the audio engine only include "use built in engine" or "use external encoder". ie. there is no option to not use an encoder at all.

    Cheers,

as wulf109 said encode only the video and then from the file menu select mpeg tools and multiplex your mp3 file with the video file you just created

That's great! Thanks for this advice. Can I expect audio sync problems doing this? Or does this work fairly well in TMPGEnc?

That's interesting. What model player do you have?

Although the majority of DVD players play both XSVCD and MP3, until now, most people have reported that MP3 audio tracks on an X/S/VCD have not worked.

Firstly, don't use the standard SVCD template. There's no need since you are making an XSVCD anyway. Use TMPGEnc to encode "video only" and make sure you use the correct specifications.

Then, when you want to multiplex, make sure you set it to "MPEG-2 SVCD".
