I have begun creating DVDs with the following tools:
* Capture, edit, and export as AVI-DV (NTSC) with Windows Movie Maker 2 (MM2)
* Encode with TMPGEnc (using high quality settings including 8000 kbps CBR video, PCM audio, and advice from http://dvd-hq.info/Compression.html )
* Create and burn DVD with TMPGEnc DVD Author
It plays back great on the PC (WinDVD and DVDPro)
However, on a standalone JVC player, the playback always freezes on Title screens created in MM2. It will play all other footage just fine, but it always locks up on any MM2 title screens regardless fades, fonts, colors, etc. I have searched to no avail for any related problems/solutions. I also posted to a different bulletin board in the UK ( http://www.simplydv.co.uk/simplyBB/viewtopic.php?t=5245 ), so, if interested, you may get even more information there.

It seems to be specific to TMPGEnc encoding. If I use the MPEG generated by the “Click To DVD” software that came with my VAIO (and TMPGEnc DVD Author), the DVD playback does not freeze. I’m a fan of MM2 and TMPGEnc products, so I continue to try to understand the problem and continue to test with DVD+R discs on my JVC (it doesn’t do RW). I’m running out of ideas and DVDs. Any ideas out there why TMPGEnc (newest version) would create an MPEG that causes my standalone DVD to freeze on MM2 Titles? Thanks for any thoughts.
