  1. i'm a bit puzzled if i have a file of, say 600mb and use tmpge to encoded it to dvd it can then become 4gb in size.
    how does this work?
is it like if i download a file and and i have to use winrar to unzip it (or can u just unzip zip files? )
i have 2 files each about 700 mb in size if i encode them then join them so they both fit on one dvd will it be a lower quality than if i put them on 2 dvds?
if so how much lower in quality?
i mean would u even notice a difference after a few beers?
    i've already had a couple
thanks for anyone that can shed light on this

  2. Well, anytime you convert something to DVD format (MPEG-2) then the output file size depends solely on the bitrate you chose to encode it and nothing else (in/out resolution). The input file size does not matter at all. This also applies for VCD (MPEG-1) conversion.

  3. just lower the bitrate to fit however much you like....

DVD files are generally encoded at really high bitrates..... 6-8 mbit/s

however, since you're starting with low quality sources...you don't need to encode at that high of a bitrate....

maybe, you can try going as low as 3 mbit/s ... or even lower...
