  1. I'm pretty new to this dvd burning. Ive got several different programs to burn to a dvd, but what I can't figure out is how to put two different movies on one dvd and have a menu at the beginning to choose. Is this what's called AUTHORING? if so, or not, please help a confused person.

    Thanks

Bye the way, this is by far this best informational site I've seen, and I think I've been to quite a lot.

  2. I would do that with NeoDVD Plus. The program will import VOB or mpeg1/2 files so you import the two movie files then create a Menu/chapter points, then burn all with the same program. NeoDVD is not a high end program with a lot extra features but it gets the job done and fast.

Yeah this is called Authoring. There are easy 'Authoring' programs to use and there are advanced ones. The problem being most of the easy ones don't have Subtitle support, which is needed in alot of movies where there is foreign language spoken.

I'm sorry to say you have 'A LOT' to catch up on. Spend alot of time going through these forums and http://www.Doom9.org. These are the two best sites in my opinion to learn about all of this.

As for NeoDVD and TMPGEnc DVD Author, I am not sure if these two strip out the Subtitles.

  5. I don't think NeoDVD will do subtitles. Like I said NeoDVD is a simple and basic program. It has a few features that other programs lack like working with VOB files and AC3 audio. Also it doesn't have a bunch of bugs like so many of the other more expensive programs seem to have.

  6. Thanks for the help, people! I really just need the basic now. I can learn as I go and eventually do subtitles, but the NEODVD looks like what I need at this time.

    Again, thanks for the help.

if you have multi angled dvds (75% of dvds) convert them to mpeg first
neodvd get confused by the add video data and will give you a/v sync problems

but if it is something like episode dvds or the old mpeg1 dvds

    you should be fine
