Yeah, I know you're thinking, 'huh'? I've spent so much time trying to find an answer to this in the help guides and on the forums, it's time to ask. I've been using TMPGEnc to my editing, authoring, and burning. I am transferring a concert on video tape to DVD-RAM. I record onto DVD-RAM disc on my HS2 at XP speed. The disc will only hold one hour at that speed. I could record at SP speed and fit the whole movie on there, BUT, when I record at SP speed on the HS2, I don't have any audio when editing in TMPGEnc Author. I have to have audio when editing because I am adding chapter stops at the beginning of every song. I'm not even sure at what stage I should be doing this. Prior to editing, authoring, before or after adding chapter stops, etc. So to summarize, I want to fit a two concert onto one DVD-R but I have to have audio when editing to add chapter stops. Using two discs for a two hour concert is getting old and I know there must be a way to do it on one. I hope I've provided enough information and I appreciate any and all help. I'm also aware that I need to wade through a certain amount of abuse to get the answer, but I can deal with that, you should have been here a month ago!![]()

compression. I am converting my home movies using the panasonic E20 to DVD-R and what I do is record on XP mode onto cheapo DVD-R and then convert/compress the footage over multiple DVD's down to fit onto 1 DVD-R.
What I use is DVD2SVCD with CCE (instead of TMPGENC) and convert the video (source is VHS tape) to where it will fit onto the DVD-R. I do all my chapter points and EVERYTHING else in movie factory 2 (or other authoring program) and then burn it.
One of your questions confused me, which was the capping in SP mode and then not having audio. That is odd that that would happen. Unfortunately, I cant help you out on that one.
I also noticed you mention that you may be abused on this board. No one on this board sets out to abuse anyone. Well OK, maybe one or twoPeople get ripped when they simply want to be spoonfed information. You should be encouraged to post questions in this forum as long as they are not stupid ones when you have done no research on your own (and the people here can tell when that has happened). A lot of the flames I see are due to people trying to do illegal stuff or ask how to rip a dvd.
Anyway, hope this helps in some way. -
You need to find out what is happening to your audio at your SP speeds. Solving that problem would be the easiest solution for you. Or, you can do what macleod suggested, and re-encode your video to a lower bitrate (if you don't edit the video, you don't have to do anything to the audio).
What is your captured audio format (LPCM, AC3 or MPA)?ICBM target coordinates:

Yeah, if I had audio at SP speed, I would be in like flint. I just accepted it because someone told me that's just the way it is with TMPGEnc author. I can tell you that the audio at XP speed is LPCM and at SP speed it is AC3, does that help at all? That would be ideal if I could get the audio at SP speed.

Captain Satellite,
If you don't mind recording in SP speed, try this...

Be sure to read the whole thread first. It is short. Also, note with this method you must do all your editing on the HS2. Don't worry, you can add chapter stops in DVDLab without re-encoding. I think this will get you there.
Let me know how it turns out.

I just re-read your post. My apologizies.
With the method I just posted you won't have audio during editing in DVDLab.
Sorry,

At least you tried and you were kind, what more can I ask for - thanks.

You need an authoring program that will accept an .AC3 file. I don't know about TMPG Author. I know (well, heard, anyway) that DVD Labs accepts an .AC3 audio.
LPCM files are hugh - 2 hours of LPCM audio is around 1.5GBytes.

MF2 accepts PCM and AC3 (for AC3, you'll have to do a quick registry tweek to enable it).
-
SLK001, you weren't rude to me at all. I appreciate them time you took to reply. I'm downloading MF2 now, can you explain how to do the 'quick registry tweak'?
-
Sure enough, it tell me it doesn't support AC3, so if you could tell me how to enable it, that would be great.

In XP, look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD Movie Factory\2.01
Open DVDMF.ini in notepad and edit "PlayAC3=0" to "PlayAC3=1"
I know that works in dvd workshop. I haven't really tried it in Movie Factory, it might work like some has said here.
Also, you'll have to multiplex the AC3 with mpeg since ulead doesn't accept streams.
