Anyone seen the movie 'The Guru'?? It's hilarious. I think I'm gonna buy the soundtrack. My question is what other songs should I also look for? I love the song Chori Chori Hum Gori Se. Anyone have any other suggestions like this song??

It's a really good movie man. Evonne and me will be watching it together tonight. I think she's gonna like it as well. It seems to fit in a catagory of movies that she likes. Comedy/Fish-Out-of-Water/Music/Dance/Fun movie.

What I think is amazing is the fact that the guy who played the main character was born in the UK and was able to sing these lyrics.

chori chori hum gori se pyaar karengey
chupke chupke dil ki baatein yaar karengey
are chori chori hum gori se pyaar karengey
chupke chupke dil ki baatein yaar karengey
aane waali, kabh aayegi koi de bataa
dhoond rahe hain, jaane kabh se, hum uska pataa
aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja aa
chori chori hum gori se pyaar karengey
chupke chupke dil ki baatein yaar karengey
aane waali, kabh aayegi koi de bataa
are dhoond rahe hain, jaane kabh se, hum uska pataa
aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja aa...

    mahiyaa, mahiyaa
jaldi se aa ja sun mahiyaa
    mahiyaa, mahiyaa
doli mein le ja sun mahiyaa...

    ooo hoo hoo
    ooo hoo hoo

ek na ek din mil jayeegi
    humko bhi sapno ki rani
    hmm hmm hmm
    hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm

ek na ek din mil jayeegi
    humko bhi sapno ki rani
    aise shuru phir ho jayeegi
    pyase dilon ki prem kahani

    apni bhi shaamein rangeen hongi
    apni bhi subhein hongi suhaani

    pyaare pyaare dekh na pyaare
    din mein taare
dil ki baazi koi na jeeta
    saare haare

    mar jayeega, mit jayeega
    kar na aisi khataa
    nahi mili hai, nahi milegi
    are teri woh dilruba

aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja

jaa, chori chori hum gori se pyaar karengey
chupke chupke dil ki baatein yaar karengey

    chorus:
    chakh le, chakh le
    chakh le, chakh le

    kitney haseen hain saare nazaarey
kitney haseen hain jag ke isharey

    aa aa aa
    aa aa aa aa aa

hey hey, kitney haseen hain saare nazaarey
kitney haseen hain jag ke isharey
jis ki tamanna hai is dil ko
    aayengi jaane kabh woh bahaarein

koi to ho jo raha mein roke
koi to ho jo naam pukare

    pyaare pyaare, o mere pyaare
    tu ruk ja re
tere jaise aashiq phirte, maare maare
    lut jayega, bik jayega
    de na aisi sadaa
is dharti pe kahin nahin hai
    teri woh dilruba
aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja

jaa, chori chori hum gori se pyaar karengey
chupke chupke dil ki baatein yaar karengey
aane waali, kabh aayegi koi de bataa
dhoond rahe hain, are jaane kabh se, hum uska pataa
aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja aaja...

But it was an Indy(pun intended) film. So I'm sure he didn't get all that much money comparred to other actors. What was amazing was how well he sang it and everything. Great film & soundtrack!

It's very funny, but I'm not sure Jimi Mistry sang the song. Marissa Tomai said it was a club remix, and I know the original is available on Kazza (w/o Jimi).

"The Guru" is the story of a young Indian dance teacher who embarks for New York City in pursuit of fame and fortune -- only to wind up working as a waiter in an Indian restaurant and dating a porn star.

If you like that kind of music maybe you should rent some Bollywood musicals.

The soundtrack has versions with and without him singing.

Didn't realize that you were expert at understanding Hindi soundtracks. I would recommend that you listen to the watch the videos of the sound tracks from the Hindi movie "Dil Chahata Hai". This DVD should be available from the local Indian grocery stores. Most Indian movies have a menu options such as "Songs Menu". If you wish to watch the whole movie then get a DVD with subtitles (unless you understand Hindi).

Most Hindi movies are crap anyway. There are notable exceptions:

    a) Mr. and Mrs. Iyer (no songs)
    b) A Monsoon Wedding
    c) Sholay (a rehash of 'The Seven Samurai' and 'Once Upon a Time in the West').

Funny, we showed Mr. and Mrs. Iyar a few weeks ago, and in a theatre capable of seating 503 people, we had 18........

I think the most popular one so far was khabi khushi khabi kham. (or some such.) oh no, it was Devdas. had to show that one twice......

Mr. and Mrs. Iyer is not the type called "Bollywood Entertainer". It is a hard-hitting down to earth film. Naturally the audience count was low. I am sad but not surprised ...

Far from it. It's just a sweet song. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to look for those movies online. There is no India supermarket anywhere around here.

No Indian stores around. That's strange. There should be one in Raleigh, if that is close by.

  18. I didn't really like "The Guru"...

It's kind of like a Hollywooded version of a Bollywood film (i.e., like how Crouching Tiger was a Hollywooded version of a Chinese action movie) and it's a bit bland.

    Regards.

What a co-incidence, I didn't realise you were an expert in telepathy.
I remember liking a French track a few years back.
Couldn't understand a word of it but loved it.
    Does it matter?

Signs sucked!! I borrowed it from a friend, because a local store had it on sale and I was thinking about buying it. WOW!! I remember everyone raving about how good it was, but they must have been on crack, because the movie had nothing going for it.

  23. Hey TGPO,

Glad to see that you like Hindi music. I work at a college radio station where we play all Hindi music on saturday mornings.

Anyway, Mistry will be in a couple movies coming out soon (dunno the names off the top of my head).
THIS has been an RVL123 production...

Signs rocked, it's in ES as well so when they are outside their house with them in and they are creeping round, the surround goes off.

And the Guru was utter shite, the missus loved it though (but shes a dopey cow)

Does anyone have a translation of the lyrics to the song into English. I'm kinda curious as to what they are saying.
