  1. I ripped Zone of the Enders DVD and put it on a VCD. When I played it on my DVD player, the parts with fast motions in it get blurry and the places with black lines get this somewhat clear smugges around it. I am always messing up this encode.

    My question is:

    1. Is there anyway to get rid of the clear smugges?
    2. Is there any difference between 224 kbit/sec and 128 kbit/sec?
    3. If I encode the .d2v of Zone of the Enders with I,P picture only, will the video look better?
    4. Why shouldn't I deinterlace the .d2v of Zone of the Enders?
    5. Should I frameserve the DVD with Force Film or None (The DVD is a hybrid and is 86% Flim)?

Help from an anime fan is especially appreciated

    1. Yes. Don't use VCD. SVCD at a minimum
    2. Yes 96 kb/s
    3. If you encode the D2V you will have no video
if you encode the file that it points to, without B
and keep the same bitrate it will be worse.
    4. Because the player will play it interlaced anyway
and you would be wasting your time.
    5. I think none

    Quite the mathmetician!

I think mrcoolekin was referring to sound quality and yes, there is a difference. I wouldn't go that low but it's personal choice. You need to see if it's OK to your ear.

  4. My DVD player can't play SVCD's. Is there another answer for question 1. On the help menu in TMPGEnc they said that if you use I,P pictures only that the quality of the movie will be better. If this doesn't work for my movie than what type or kind of movie will it work for?
