Letterbox Error after capture

Hi, can anyone offer any help?

My first night of attempting to capture VHS with my Nvidia Geforce4 Ti4600. I have followed the tutorial from the guides section and everything seemed to be going okay. I can see the video perfectly on the Virtual VCR screen but when I record it an play it back the centre of the movie has a blank letterbox on it? the top and bottom 3rds are fine just the centres all bodges up?

Anyone know what I'm doin wrong? or is it just cos some software/codec isn't the full version?

I've seen something like that happen to me when I captured PAL VHS using NTSC settings by mistake (or because the stupid capture program reset itself to NTSC).
